Transforming HQ to city centre Helsinki and uplifting Gigantti's profile.
Central location without any parking space, but walking distance to everything?
Gigantti had outgrown their old offices in Tammisto so exploration for new Headquarters was started. Initially, the requirement was to find a space that would fill the following: 40+ parking spots, good public transportation connections and close proximity to a Gigantti store.
Instead of putting emphasis on parking spots we challenged them with another idea;
What about a central location without any parking space, but walking distance to everything?
One factor which was considered when scouting premises for the new Headquarters was the impact on Gigantti’s profile. The idea of a more central location supported this goal. The challenge, however, was to convince the management of this change and to get employees support for it.
Challenging the employees and leadership to find the perfect balance of location, functionality, look and feel.
Employees' commitment to this change was very important. Most of the employees had had long careers at Gigantti and a few years back they had undergone a workplace transformation which helped to make the process more familiar. Instead of seeing the change as negative, it was rather seen as a new beginning
Because the idea that in the future the commuting would be by public transportation was a big change we wanted to hear the opinions of employees. Internal voting for office with parking space in suburbs or central location with no parking was organized, and the central location won.
The workplace transformation was not just about finding new office space but also designing how new spaces would be used.
Agile Work organized two workshops with the Gigantti staff, to rethink how they want to work in the future. In team rooms, open plan, activity based office with shared desks or in combi office. Previous team rooms were abandoned, and staff wanted to try out more flexible and open team area based working, making it more flexible & open. Now other teams can see, hear and learn from others.
What was thought and hoped for really happened. This was a real profile increase for Gigantti.

The change was a big profile lift for Gigantti. Affiliates who visit the premises often have given really positive feedback. New Headquarter supports Gigantti’s way of working and is aligned with the brand look and feel. The working environment also enables Gigantti's own products to be presented in a practical environment.
The work space is functional and agile, yet warm and even home-like.
