Four years ago we started working with GE Healthcare Finland. To celebrate the anniversary we interviewed Erno Muuranto, the Managing Director of the company. This is what he said:
“What we're doing here is 200 engineers working on building the same product. Everything they do needs to work together, so communications is really key in everything that we do. The challenge four years ago was old-fashioned workspaces and teamwork that was not very dynamic.
We engaged professional consultants to envision a new type of workplace, which would be much more open. We tore all the walls, as we used to have cubicles with high walls and an office space, where nobody would see one another.
The changes that we have seen externally is that GE’s position has been rising in the Best Place to Work and employee satisfaction has increased. If you come to our office today, you can see much more spontaneous discussions, teams discussing issues and solving problems.
It's all about people, how you get everybody's minds and hearts engaged into the projects and into the work, and people working together towards a common goal.”
